Moontan

By Paul G. McCurdy

I tanned by moon before we met.
That pale face floating over its black body
dimmed my flesh with sablest gauze.
Those who saw me bare turned back,
unused to such a somber skin.

When at last you peeled my daily hide
and ran warm hands along my cooling curves,
you neither gasped nor fled in fright,
for in your sun my shadow ceased.
My moontan melted and I turned to light.
