The Appalling Subjugation of Emily Dickinson
By The Hegemonic Oppression of the Lesbian-Feminist Post-Modern Dyad

By Dustin Wells

It is absolutely appalling that Emily Dickinson has been mis-appropriatedly assigned as a poster-girl for Lesbianism. This is clearly over-reaching and wrong-headed, not to say wishful thinking. From careful study of her work and her life, I assert that Emily Dickinson was clearly trans-gendered. (S)he was only biologically female.

First and foremost is his name, Dickinson . Dick is Male. As is Son. And then in the middle is clearly to signify to the n’th degree with the tale-tell I in the middle. See how the I is torn between the two masculine nomenclatures which obviously represent stringent 18th century conventions.

I hear lesser scholars argue that Dickinson is his name and not subject to analytical debate. I strongly dis-concur.  E. Dick-I(nth)-son had the most eloquent word skills and we must undertake that everything he wrote is there for a purpose, including his name.

For example, a person with his word skills could have easily changed his name to E. Dick-brother, but than that would have left his last name ending in Her. E. Dick-I(nth)-son wanted no such un-clarity associated with his legacy.

I dare say that Dickinson is rather a sentence if pondered thoroughly enough. Let us diagram this sentence: Dickinson obviously diagrams as, Dick-is-on (to the nth degree). This must be a painful revelation to all my detractors who read this. Emily Dick-is-on is obviously Emily screaming out to generations about his true identity as a male.

There is no debate that Emily Dick-is-on is one of the greatest writers of his century. And how does one write? With a pen, of course. So would you say that Emily Dick-is-on’s pen was writing, or to say in the present tense, that his pen is writing. Pen is. Pen-is. Penis. Well there we go, further proof that Emily Dickinson was not a common run of the mill dyke, but rather a forbearer of our eternal struggle for Tran-gendered rights.
